WGVBS | Working Group on Value and Benefits of SAIs

The Working Group on the Value and Benefits of SAIs was established during XIX INCOSAI to develop a framework and measurement tools for defining the value and benefits of SAIs.

Theme I of the XX INCOSAI, 2010, in South Africa was on the Value and Benefits of SAIs. The working group completed the first phase of its work which was to define a framework for communicating and promoting the value and benefits of SAIs, which was approved in principle by the XX INCOSAI. The framework establishes the value and benefits of SAIs from two perspectives, namely  (i) to be recognised as an institution that makes a difference in the lives of citizens and (ii) to be recognised as an independent model organisation.

For the next period up to XXI INCOSAI 2013, the working group is expected to inter alia focus on:

  • developing further credible measurement tools,
  • developing appropriate channels for communicating and promoting the value and benefits to SAIs, including to civil society organisations and citizens
  • submitting a proposed ISSAI on the value and benefits of SAIs in compliance with INTOSAI due process requirements.
