8th Meeting of the INTOSAI Finance and Administration Committee in London
On 16 October 2012, the 8th meeting of the INTOSAI Finance and Administration Committee (FAC) was staged in London, United Kingdom. The meeting was hosted by the SAI of the United Kingdom (NAO). All members of the FAC Committee (Saudi Arabia, USA, China, Ecuador, Norway, Mexico and the INTOSAI General Secretariat) took part in this decisive meeting.
The main themes of this FAC meeting, which was chaired by the experienced SAI of Saudi Arabia, focussed on the financial aspects and developments of INTOSAI, possible improvements of the strategic planning processes, mechanisms for INTOSAI to adequately address emerging issues, developments of the International Journal of Government Auditing and developments of INTOSAI and the Donor Community.
Central to these themes were the developments concerning the future management of financial matters of INTOSAI presented by the Task Force Financial Foresight. The Finance and Administration Committee asked the Task Force to prepare possible options for future financial regulations and to present their concrete benefits, disadvantages and consequences.
In the light of the current evaluation of the implementation steps of the Strategic Plan
2011 – 2016, which have hitherto been taken, the Finance and Administration Committee decided to conduct an analysis of the implementation methods as well.
Finally, an agreement was made to establish a “Supervisory Board”, which is chaired by the Chairman of the INTOSAI Governing Board, in order to deal more effectively with emerging issues. This Board shall also consist of the First and Second Chairman, the four Strategic Goal Chairs, the IDI, the International Journal of Government Auditing, the INTOSAI General Secretariat and, if needed, also the General Secretariats of the Regional Working Groups concerned.
