XIXth INCOSAI 2007
The XIXth INCOSAI, was held in Mexico City, Mexico from November 5 to 10, 2007.
Cooperation agreed between IIA and INTOSAI
On 10 and 11 July 2007, President Josef Moser as Secretary General of INTOSAI participated in the annual conference of the Institute of Internal Auditors which followed the motto "Get into the Flow". In his speech he stressed the common aims of internal and external audit and the necesity of close cooperation, exchange of experiences and the development of common standards and methods.
The worldwide professional organisation of internal audit (IIA) has more than 130,000 members from the private and public sector and promotes - like INTOSAI - the development of international professional standards, training and education, information sharing and knowledge transfer.
As a sign for the close cooperation between INTOSAI and IIA, President Josef Moser received the memorandum of understanding which was signed for INTOSAI by Henrik Otbo, the chair of the Professional Standards Committee and President of the Danish supreme audit institution, and by Dave Richards, the President of IIA. In the memorandum both institutions emphasize to cooperate as equal partners. The memorandum stresses the interaction between internal and external audit as well as the common auditing standards. This cooperation is filled with life in the INTOSAI Sub-Committee on Internal Control Standards as well as the observer status of IIA in the INTOSAI Professional Standards Committee.
