The INCOSAI in Mexico City in November 2007 approved the establishment of a new project on audit quality under level 2 of the framework of INTOSAI’s standards and guidelines. The new project will focus on quality control aspects at the SAI level (which belong in level 2 of the ISSAI framework) rather than quality control aspects of individual financial audits, performance audits and compliance audits (which belong in the appropriate section within level 4 of the ISSAI framework).

The PSC Steering Committee is aiming to have the new guidelines on audit quality (under level 2 of the framework) endorsed at the INCOSAI in 2010.
