During its meeting in Mexico in 2006, the INTOSAI's Governing Board confirmed the mission of the ad-hoc working group on « Transparency and accountability »: to define principles that will help SAIs to be accountable of their activities, report on the impact of their audits and to satisfy to the same requirements that SAIs themselves strive to promote in public management. After being approved by the congress in 2010, these principles are due to become ISSAI 20.

The group is currently drafting a guide on principles for SAIs transparency and accountability as well as best practices in this field.
