The INTOSAI Development Initiative (IDI) supports the enhancement of audit capacities of INTOSAI members (Goal 2 of the Strategic Plan). Activities include the long-term regional training programmes, regional satellite and partnership programmes as well as IDI training seminars and workshops in key areas of government auditing.

IDI was established at the 1986 Sydney Congress.

IDI in Norway was established in May 1999 as a Foundation under Norwegian law, giving it organisational and economic independence.

The Chairman of the Norwegian Board of Auditors General acts as Chairman of the Board of IDI.
