ASOSAI's major objective is providing SAIs with opportunities for training and continuing education for government auditors in pursuit of the goal of improving audit quality and performance.

Since its establishment ASOSAI has organised a large number of programmes.

The themes of these programmes covered audits in many different areas, such as:

• Financial and compliance;

• Performance and/or value-for-money;

• Computer and/or information systems;

• Public works; and

• Privatization.

Other training programmes centred on human resource management for heads and deputies of ASOSAI, management of training programmess, cost accounting in government, and budget management.
