Participation of INTOSAI Secretary General in the SIGNALS Conference 2017 in Vilnius, Lithuania
On 28 November 2017, the National Audit Office of Lithuania organised the "SIGNALS Conference 2017" on Sustainable Development.
This conference aimed at supporting and developing a sustainable approach to the future of the state by discussing best practice examples, in particular in the areas of education and budgetary governance. It gathered around 400 participants and speakers from international organisations (OECD, UNESCO) and the public sector as well as opinion leaders from science, research and the private sector.
INTOSAI Secretary General Margit Kraker delivered a keynote speech on the role and importance of SAIs in the implementation of the SDGs and informed the participants of the conference about current and planned initiatives of INTOSAI in order to support SAIs in this important task. Furthermore, the Managing Director for Strategic Issues of the US Government Accountability Office, Christopher Mihm, elaborated on the relevance of the SDGs as well as the and importance of their implementation at the national level.
